YEAR OF PERFORMING & VISUAL ARTS AND COMMUNITY HEALING & DEVELOPEMENT PROGRAMMING

Brooklyn, New York - September 1, 2009 - Ifetayo (e-fay-tie-yo) Cultural Arts Academy, Inc. announces registration for its 21st year of performing and visual arts and community healing and development programming.
Program Fees:
The following programs; SIS, IAMB, IYE and MGCHP have no monetary tuition fee associated with them. The only requirement is that all students and parents confirm their dedication, consistency and agree to formally pass on the knowledge once acquired and mastered within the Ifetayo community, and eventually the community at large.
Rites of Passage Programs (SIS, IAMB & FEI)-
Serving ages 8-21
Sisters in Sisterhood (SIS) -Teen
I am My Brother (IAMB) -Teen
Pre-SIS & Pre-IAMB (8-12years old)
Financial Education Institute (FEI) (FEI is only open to Rites participants/parents and graduates only)
Marcus Garvey Cultural Heritage Program (MGCHP)
Serving ages 6-18 & Adults
Cultural History classes for youth
International cultural studies trips abroad to Africa, Brazil & the Caribbean
Annual Scholar Presentation

Ifetayo Youth Ensemble (IYE)
Serving ages 13-21 yrs old.
Acceptance is by audition only! Auditions will held on October 3rd, 2009 in the disciplines of African Drum, Music, Voice, African Dance, Modern Dance and Acting and will occur monthly on the first Saturday of each month.
The Ifetayo Youth Ensemble uses high-level arts training and performance coupled with personal development initiatives to prepare young people to create and perform original works about pressing social issues.
Cultural Arts Program (CAP)
CAP Serves children and youth ages 2-18& Adults
Program Fees for CAP:
This is the only program where there is a low tuition charged. The rates apply based on the number of classes you are attending and the number of children enrolling from one household. Please visit www.ifetayo.org/family to begin your registration process.
2009-2010 Class Offerings
Classes offered include:
Dance: African, Modern, Ballet, Hip Hop
Music: Traditional Instruments: Brazilian Percussion, African Drumming (Djimbe, Kutiro, and Sabar) & Conga
Music: Contemporary Instruments: Guitar, Trap Drumming, Piano & Voice
Drama: Acting & Toddler Creative Poetry Expressions
Visual Arts: Costume/Fashion Design, Painting, Sketching & Drawing, Jewelry (Beading) & Sculpture
Martial Arts: Capoiera (Brazilian Martial Art), Tae Kwon Do
Health & Well Being: Pilates, Yoga, Stretch & Tone Movement
Classes are held on Saturdays and range from beginner to pre-professional level.
