Dr. Kokayi, of Global Medicine Review, interviews Sister Kwayera Archer-Cunningham on "Community Health and Development within an African Cultural Paradigm"
Brooklyn, New York - April 27, 2012 Ifetayo (e-fay-tie-yo) Cultural Arts Academy hosts our 5th Annual Children's Visual Arts Exhibition "House of Stories." House of Stories reflect the historical and aesthetic characteristics of the Caribbean as seen through the lens of children's perceptions and stories of the Caribbean interpreted through their paintings, sculptures, jewelry making, masks and beading. In the Painting, Drawing and Sketching Foundation class at Ifetayo students examined the importance of folktales within the Haitian culture. They shared Anansi stories in class and responded to the folktales with painted illustrations. Students collaborated on a mural and assembled painted bottles and natural objects. This installation piece is presented as an altar or sacred space which honors the spirit of the story teller.
This year's Visual Arts Exhibition is in partnership with Cumbe Center for African & Diaspora Dance.
